The author of this book will give you a guide on how to develop your individuality and uniqueness and then use it to set yourself apart. He also explores traditional and less traditional ways entrepreneurs go about setting up a new venture. Need to revamp the communications or even your workflow efficiency? You will find all the tools you need for that right here.
I am always skeptical about a books claims when I pick them up, but I found some very sound advice in this one. Current entrepreneurs will find new mindsets that will challenge the status quo, and brand-new entrepreneurs will find a roadmap on how to get started. I liked the ease of reading the book and think it can provide many with good information.

The Scarlet Queen: A Gripping Epic Fantasy by Mitch Reinhardt

Third in the series, “The scarlet Queen“ follows Geoff, Sawyer, Ariel and Ishara, as they struggle to find a way to hold back the ruthless conquering armies of the scarlet queen and the evil that rises with the ongoing war. The country of Alluria trembles with despair if those four cannot find a way to turn the tides. Love will enter for some, but old resentments between the races of humans and elves will hamper others and underneath, Jane, now a powerful dark druid is poised to conquer all.
The worldbuilding continue3s to be excellent and the saga that the author built over the first two books comes toa head for some plot lines, while others only develop further (hopefully to be picked up in another book). I enjoyed the story, there was plenty of action and relationship and even drama to fill all the pages. I especially liked the realistic tensions between the races and how they were explored more than the previous books.

Malila Of The Scorch: Book 3 of Old Men and Infidels by W Clark Boutwell

In the third book of the “Old men and infidels” series, Malila of the scorch picks up where the last book left off. The young countries are pitted against the old, and on both sides, people vie for supremacy. In the Unity, Malila Chiu was once a hero, but after she delivers a dire message to the remnants of what was once America, she is no longer very welcome. Jesse Johnstone loves Malila and vows to stay at her side, regardless of his feelings about the Scorch. Other characters are also in play along the board, General Jourdaine, spies William Butler, Hecate and Elise, all of whom have been in the previous books in some form all return and continue their individual fights.
A grand finale in the series, this book was a pleasure to read. Certainly, the previous book should be read in order to grasp the significance of certain events, but the story is still compelling and entertaining.

Sound Mind: A Collection of Poetry by T.J. Singh

Sound Mind is a collection of poems that are inspired by our true colors, our struggles in life, and our journeys. The book is divided in half, where the first is a poetic story about a wolf named Aura who maintains the traditions of hi pack. At the same time, he wants to live his dreams as a singer and the story shows how he learns to live with both roles in his life. Beautiful artwork by the author accompany the story. The later half of the book is the poetry that helped inspire Aura’s story and helped the author put thoughts and feeling into words.
A very interesting piece of work. I enjoyed the artwork and while I liked the story a bit more than the poetry in the end, I still feel it was good the author included them into the book. They do round the book out and give a little more introspection to the whole work.

Returning home after 14 years away shows him just how much the world can change and so many things are simply not how he remembers them. Tensions between colonists and redcoats are high, conspiracies and tempers brew ripe for overflowing. Young Wolfe is drawn into the rebellion against his will, all the while trying to stay loyal to the crown, necessitating him walking a fine line between honor and disloyalty.
A thrilling historical fiction story that is rife with plots and betrayal, where each man has to decide what he stands for and how much he is willing to fight for it. I liked the story; it was compelling and fast paced once things started to be set into motion. Wolfe was a likeable character and it was easy to become invested in his story.

Generation 23: Hallowed Be Thy Noble Name by Ivan Ertlov

In this postapocalyptic novel, Civilization on Earth has collapsed, leaving the remnants to scratch out a survival. With the last resources, Humanity leaves earth on giant Spaceships called Generation ships and set out for the stars, in hopes of finding that goldilocks planet that will support our lives for a new beginning. Now, the 23rd generation to be born and live on the Ship Trappist, is largely content to spend their lives on the ship. Everyone knows their place in the system, and no one deviates from their place, until one day, a stolen chicken sends police officer Maria Gomez on the case of her life.
The author is a European author making his debut in the English market with this new series. Well written, excellent descriptions and a plot that flows at just the right pace, you will feel as if you are right there on the ship with the characters. I really enjoyed this story; I am a big SciFi fan and this was a unique take on the genre. Well done!

Blood Nor Money by Colette Rhodes

A decadent rich and sexy novel about vampires and territorial disputes. Porcia is an independent Vampiress who has been protected by two unknown vampires for centuries until a new vampire seeking her territory sends her fleeing for her life. Falling into someone else's lair, Porcia seeks help for the first time ever and hopes she will be able to win her territory back without losing her heart.
I really wanted to like this book more than I did. What saved it for me was the emotional depth and complexity of the guys, Luis, Tir and Calvus were devoted to Porcia (some for centuries) before she even looked at them, but Porcia wasn't appreciative of their devotion, she was dismissive and downright cruel towards the guys. Her actions also ran from hot to cold on a whim and it was jarring to read.
I received an ARC and decided to leave a review voluntarily.

Hampshire Stories: A Collection of Tales Set in 19th-Century England by Joe Giampaolo

In 19th century England, the lives of many were not normal or boring. The author has compiled a collection of short stories that showcase well known tropes of that era as well as some new stories and situations that have not widely been explored yet. Well written and thought out, there will surely be something in here for everyone. Especially with the “Bridgerton” craze and renewed interest in the genre, this book is certainly one you will be glad you read.
I found the book and the stories to be refreshing and well written in such a way that they easily transported me to England and had me speaking with a posh English accent! One of my personal favorites of the stories was “My letters from Hubert”. Where we are given a glimpse in the relationship between fanny and Hubert, even as we only ever see his side of things. It was very creative!

The life and mysteries of dolphins and whales in the wild, their interactions, their intelligence and even the dangers they face brought on by humanities actions. This book reveals a whole world we were previously not aware of, one that can dazzle us with its beauty and love. Bobbie meticulously recorded al of her findings and the culmination is a worthy book that should be widely read.
In today’s world, a book that can show the beauty of our world is a good book to read and this book will certainly show you that. IT will also show us some of the magic that we associate with dolphins and I am glad I was able to read it. Very well written and even though there is some technical terms in here, it is still a book that a layman can enjoy and understand.

The Sounds of Fall by Karin Wyman Vardaman

This book is for people who love animals and such movies as “homeward bound” and even “old yeller”. The amazing and inspirational true story of a black lab dog who gets lost in the Cleveland National Forest one day. This story follows the authors emotional turmoil and anguish as she frantically searches for her beloved companion and sets out on a harrowing journey amidst the wilderness until she is reunited with Reilly once more. To this end she even enlists the help of a psychic who reassures her that it will be possible to find him in time and to persevere.
While some might not find this a inspirational story, the depth of devotion and faith the author demonstrated during her search was pretty incredible. I found it to be a good story, very positive and even though there was a touch of drama with the uncertainty, it was nice to read something positive and uplifting after a hard year.

The Giants' Dance: The Berserker Trilogy Book 2 by J.W. Webb

Second in a trilogy, The Giants Dance is a continuation of where the first book left off. Jaran Saerk, Finvar and Savarna return in this story, even though Savarna is the captive of an evil witch throughout the beginning of the book. Jaran and Finvar cross the frozen realms, battle demons, monsters and more on their quest at saving Savarna. A new character will get more time in this book as well: Savarna’s twin brother who must decide who he will save when invasion from outside forces threaten his lands. The world of Ansu is brought to life through vivid descriptions and complex relationships between characters. The author knows his creations well and has created a compelling story. Fans of grand worlds such in the Wheel of Time will appreciate the storytelling herein. I do suggest you follow the stories from the first novel, otherwise important plot points will be missed.

The Greatest Hoax on Earth: Catching Truth, While We Can by Alan C. Logan

Frank W. Abagnale’s story has been so widely read and even turned into movies and books. This book will take us behind the scenes, on how Frank was able to pull this all off, the people he duped and even the ones who helped him along willingly. Starting from a young age, Frank Abagnale turned his brilliant mind to manipulating others around him into giving him what he wanted, and making it seem like it was their idea. Think of how often movies cut scenes to fit time constraints and you can imagine just how many plots of Franks are in tis book.
There are no clear winners or losers in this book, and I find the story truly fascinating, even more so than the famous movie “Catch me if you can” from 2002. Very well written and edited, the story moved along quickly, and it was easy to follow along, while still keeping some of the mystery alive in some spots.

Redlined: A novel of Boston by Richard W. Wise

A book with two main plots that are interestingly intertwined as such things often are. One the one side, the banks who decide to redline Jamaica Plain and therefore crashing the affordable housing and opportunities for lending in that area. On the other side, a mysterious entity who is using arson to burn down all the buildings that are being abandoned and amidst those ruins the body of a local activist, Sandy Morgan is found. Who killed her, was it a coincidence? Who is setting the fires? Jedediah and Alex are the only two who are currently fighting the redlining, and then they hear about Sandy’s death and begin working on that as well. But are these all two separate occurrences? Or is someone trying to profit off the misery and misfortune of others?
A crime, thriller with suspense that is somewhat rooted in historical truth. The main premise of the book is fiction however, so some factual errors from the author, are to be forgiven. Well written and certainly suspenseful, there are plenty of villains to blame, but there is really only one who is ultimately pulling all strings.

Jinn by Adron Smitley

Following the first novel Veilfall, author Adron Smitley continues the saga in Jinn. We meet up with master swordslinger and now last soothsayer Banzu Greenlief as he reunites with his love Melora to fight off assassins from the future (Yes, time travel is in the book in some form). This book follows both Banzu and Melora and explores their expectations and concerns about the future. Unsure futures can cause rifts in any relationships and the Enclave is poised to exploit these and defeat both Banzu and Melora once and for all.
The author did a better job in the editing and punctuation department than the first book. I am glad to see the improvements. There were still longer sentences than needed and the formatting was still a bit awkward. That may be simply a matter of preference since it is carrying over into another book. Still, the story is sound and the plot makes sense.

The author of this book is giving you 1001 of the most commonly used English expressions and their definitions which will help you in utilizing them in regular conversations. By studying these, not only will your English improve, but your conversational skill will as well.
Coming from an author who is an educator and is used to teaching English to people who do not understand it, this book was well written and laid out in an easy to follow manner. I was looking for something for my Mother in law and I have passed this book along to her. I think it will really help her understand nuances better and anyone else who is looking for some pointers will be able to learn something as well.

Wait - Don't Die Yet!: A complete guide to all things no one really wants to think about (but everyone needs to know) before, during, and after a loved one's passing by Annette Kam

One of the main things I have noticed about people is that we do not discuss death. When I try to talk to my husband for example, I get the whole: “We have time for that stuff.”. I am sure others have heard the same, but for those o us who like to be prepared and to have affairs in order in case the unexpected happens, then this is our book. In this book, the author discusses and explains common terms that we would encounter if a loved one would die as well as giving us an overview of all the things, we might not even consider that go beyond a will or trust. Titles, deeds, bank accounts, insurance and debt are only a few examples of things needed to not only considered but known so it can be handled efficiently.
Extremely helpful, I was able to create a checklist with the help of this book and I am working through it in preparation of the worst-case scenario, but also for my peace of mind. I feel much more confident about the process which I think speaks to the effectiveness of the book itself.

Unstuck: Overcoming the Thresholds that Limit Us by Crystal Neubauer

Author Crystal Neubauer has given us a thoughtful and insightful book in Unstuck. By presenting a common problem, even if it is not often talked about, namely, that we can get stuck in certain patterns and routines that are quite often harmful to ourselves and others. The author gives helpful tools and situations that will help you identify if you are indeed stuck in a pattern and if so, how to begin on breaking yourself out of it. Many of the tips are written with a spiritual and religious aspect in mind, allowing God into your life and having him help you in your life by having him fight alongside you.
While I found many of the advice interesting and possibly helpful, I was unsure about the heavy emphasis on religion herein. Someone who is not religious and is not very spiritual, might be better off with getting a different book. Other than that, this book is worthwhile to check out.

In this book by author Dr. Bradford Butler, we are given some insightful information about how one issue in one area in our body can relate to pain in another. He explains the functioning of the human body and how interconnected everything is. Back pain can have a myriad of causes and each one should be targeted, not just the symptom of the back pain in itself. The author highlights some treatment options, from traditional to more holistic and lesser known medicinal approaches and gives positive and negative for each one.
I felt that this book was a rehashing of older information that has been written about, studies posted online and so I did not see much of any value in it. Yes, the convenience of having it all in one spot is good, but I do not know if I would come back to this book very much when it is easier to search online for the specifics of my needs.

Choices: A Florida Action Adventure Novel by Scott W. Cook

A new series is here that follows Scott Jarvis, a private Investigator that works out of Orlando, Florida. This being the first book, we get insight into how Scott got into the Private Investigator work as he started out as a Detective. In the middle of a case, just as he gets some good intel and is closing in on the suspects in a missing persons case, Scott is ordered off the case, so he sets out on his own to finish the job. This decision will have deadly consequences as Scott is pulled into a dark web of Mafia operations and then the FBI steps in.
The premise was interesting enough, I am not sure that the writing was good enough to carry the story. The protagonist was very caustic towards everyone else, a veritable “know-it-all” and that even applied to situations where he did not have experience. His ability to survive a firefight intact was stretching credibility as well as his handling of certain situations. The book was full of action and some suspense, so if you can overlook the character flaws than you might still enjoy the book.

Phoenix Whittle is stuck in the foster care system and is just counting down the days until she is finally done. Suddenly, she is given the option of going to an estranged uncle, Mr. Henry Whittle who would give her a place to live with a family member (himself). However, in the time between the offer went out and Phoenix arriving at his door, something monumental has happened. Henry is no more and has been replaced by his killer who assumes his identity until Phoenix arrives and turns everything in the house on its head. Between the killer at home and the bullying at school Phoenix must show just how determined and tough she really is and how much she can survive.
This book was so hair-raisingly thrilling story. The abuse Phoenix goes through tugged at my own hurtful past, so it was very easy to identify with her. The complications of the mystery (will she ever figure it out), and the sudden murder of a local boy give this book a macabre feel. Great story.

There were many quotes from famous people in here that really brought the points the author was making together, and he used a familiar language. Think of this book as: you are sitting down with a friend who has some good advice about life. This easy style of writing makes the book more approachable and the well edited and formatted book will be a joy to read. I liked this book and think many could benefit from it.

In the New York Subway tunnels, these men and women fight for their lives under the guidance of Ellie Goldman. In a world where everyone is only worth as much as they are useful, women, people of color or even criminals are victims of the government’s assignment testing. As brother is pitted against brother, just how far will you go to protect someone you love, or to fight for a cause you believe in?
As post-apocalyptic novels go, this one is pretty well done. It is not in my all-time favorites, but it has a solid world building and it had a variety of characters that were for the most part well written and fleshed out. I can certainly recommend reading this story, there is plenty here that will entice most people.

Cooking For Cannibals by Rich Leder

A romance horror story full of dark (or morbid) humor that will have you chuckling at the antics of the not-so-old seniors of this senior living facility. Carrie is a typical introvert, who prefers to spend time with her lab rats than she does with other humans, until she decides to steal a experimental formula form the lab and accidentally (or was it an accident?) turns the local residents of the senior living facility into youngsters. There was a unforeseen side effect, the not-so seniors now crave some human flesh. Carrie gets unexpected help form a recent ex-convict Johnny who starts to help her ion cooking up some special dishes. Will they all ever be stopped?
I found this book to be true to the black humor I grew up with in Germany, so I enjoyed it very much. I liked the craziness of it all and Carrie was a quirky character that was able to pull it all off.

Paige left last book thinking her new boyfriend was a vampire serial killer. This book picks up right there and throws Paige into one uncomfortable situation after the next. While she tries to prove his innocence (she just wants one normal boyfriend), she is roped into solving a robbery at her employers and she also finds out more than she bargained for about Niko the sexy werewolf next door.
The story is as hilarious as the first two books, Paige makes some growth as a person and the teases on the sexy times keep coming. Will Paige let herself go there finally? Or will she keep living in the past?

Hex, Love, and Rock & Roll by Kat Turner

Helen Schrader steps into a Witches shop and asks her to read her future. One weird thing leads to another and Helen leaves with her own powers awoken, but she has no idea of how to control them. She accidentally hexes her rocker crush Brian and loses one of her curse stones in the process. Essentially for everything she wants, she must give something up and what will happen when the cost becomes to high for her to pay?
I liked the story overall, but it had a very slow pace and the writing was very discordant in the beginning, the author seemed to hit her stride towards the middle of the book. I received an ARC and decided to leave a voluntary review.

Deception by Victoria Saccenti

Raging for revenge, Joe embarks on a quest to seduce Hunter who he believes is the reason a teammate committed suicide. What Joe did not count with, was his primal feelings that are awakened by her and that threaten to turn his entire world upon its axis. Caught up in the feelings Hunter is intrigued by Joe, but she wants to protect her heart that has been hurt a few times too many. A push and pull ensues, between Joe and Hunter and the love that is growing may very well be dashed to pieces by the deception that started their relationship.
The cover was misleading I think, I was thinking this would be a more action-oriented book with some slight romantic undertones. The romance has a greater role within this book and there is much Dom/Sub situations involved as well. There are plenty of twists and turns within the story, mainly through revelations in conversations between characters that will keep you guessing what will happen in the end. A good book.

Carrie Sue is a crime reporter in 1987 Atlanta. Her fiancé is widower Marcus Handley, a powerful publisher. Carries life gets upended when she finds out that Marcus’s “dead” wife isn’t actually dead at all. This has Marcus pulling away from Carrie as his feelings for his wife return. Amidst her personal; turmoil, Carrie seeks out a friend of hers who himself is dealing with personal trauma, namely a gun shot wound. This pulls Carrie into a deep crime web surrounding Nev Powers and Carrie sets out to find some missing women who might connect all the different dots.
A very interesting book, this thriller has very good elements and some not so good. I could have cared less about Carrie’s personal problems; I think the book was well written and could have stood on its own with out it. Other than that, it was a good story, with well done dialogue and characters.

This book will teach you all about how to handle your finances. It will challenge you to view your relationship with money with a critical eye and identify the mistakes you tend to make. Then the author gives you different ways in which to avoid and mitigate the mistakes. The author also gives us an overview of what his most common mistakes in regard to his money were and how he was able to fix them and ultimately build a better financial future.
Money is a big part of our lives and learning how to correctly manage. Invest, budget and spend it is always something we should all be interested in. I think that this book will be truly helpful in identifying bad habits and helping people to overcome them. This book was well written and the content made sense in relation to the topic and I did not find any huge red flags in any of the tips given by the author.

Mostly True II: Episodes by Arlene N Cohen

In the Sequel to the first book, the author delivers on her previous work. She blends true stories with some magical embellishments and some witty humor and gives us greatly entertaining stories that span the breadth of human experience. Sad, strange, or even happy, each one is full of life and showcases the vastness of human interactions. Eleven stories are contained within and the writing is good. Each chapter is headed off with a quote from some famous people that set the mood for the ensuing story. While short, the stories all hit the point and I am feeling a little bereft with some, wishing there was more. This is a good problem to have with books though, so it’s a bonus. The Baby maker was a sadder story, but I really liked Dancing in the Void.

He’s looking for a perfect beach, better health, even inner peace will do. But will he ever achieve it? This is the fourth book in the My Country series, by author Norwick Gray and as in the previous books, he paints a vivid picture of the world we live in. In addition, the pictures help showcase the natural splendor the author was lucky enough to witness in his travels.
I liked the story, even in its brevity, it was well written, and the descriptions were detailed enough to help you really imagine yourself along for the ride. The knowledge gained by the author was interesting as well. He learned some unusual things in normal places and normal things in unusual places, showing us that we are all the same deep within regardless of where we come from.

A book for provoking thought. The topic: living a healthier life in a world that is unwell and how to fight the chronic loss of energy we all now face that our parents and grandparents never experienced. This book is not blaming any one thing in our lives; however, it does provide with a guideline on how to achieve a balance in our lives between healthy hobbies and past-times and the technology that is permeating every part of our lives. The author acknowledges that we cannot simply live without technology nowadays, but she does help us limit our consumption of it and with that raise our energy and happiness levels.
I found it to be an interesting book, it certainly gives enough information for you to truly think about all the times we check our phones, or even sit and watch tv which some people don’t even count as screen time anymore. The message is a positive one, and after the fiasco of 2020, I think many people can benefit from some positivity.

In this book, a collection of 12 short stories take us into the lives of vastly different people who all have one thing in common: they love deeply and completely and long for love as well. Written by Canadian author K. the stories were previously published separately until they were compiled into this book. Expect to be taken around the world, from Crimea, Yugoslavia all the way to Iraq, the stories are poignant and well written in such a way that they draw you in and allow you to ponder life in a grander manner.
I particularly liked Rachel and her views on dandelions. The simple beauty in the worldviews of many of the characters was deceptive in its simplicity. I believe the book is well worth a read, especially if you are interested in glimpses of life in other countries than your own.

Olivia Cult: Tales of a Witch Detective: The Enchantress Omega by Boss Kelly

Parabola is an alternative dimension to our own. In it, supernatural creatures live out their lives just as we humans live in our dimension. Olivia Cult is only 15 years old, but she has embraced her witchy heritage and has bonded with a demon (Lilith) and uses her powers in her job as a Detective for the paranormal Police Force. Estranged from her family, she longs for her old life on Earth, but not at the cost of al living beings on Earth. A terrorist organization kidnap her Captain and plan to break the barriers to invade Earth and subjugate humans. Olivia is one of the few on the force that have not been compromised and she now has to figure out who she can trust and enlist to help her before it is too late.
Formatting, spacing and syntax errors were abundant, and I checked all three of my devices to rule out any formatting errors that way. Olivia is a firecracker and has some tough decisions she works through. I enjoyed the story; I just wish the formatting and other stuff had been better edited.

The Worst Story Ever Written by Nicole Wells

Jayne is a plain human, surrounded by those with magic and those with Talent. Yes, Talent with a capital T. Jealous of all those around her who have it “easy”, Jayne is excited when the Book Fairy drops in and enlists her help to solve a murder. Popping around with magical transportation snails, Jayne and the Book Fairy follow clues and attempt to find the real murderer of an author named Alain. Meeting and snarking off to Prince Liam was not on Jaynes list to do today. And yet, it happened and causes all kinds of distractions.
Full of puns, very on the nose descriptions and some laugh out loud humor, the book has plenty to make it stand out. However, I had a hard time following along in the beginning of the book, it was a quick pace with some background information thrown around while keeping you guessing what was going on. Maybe some editing could clear that up and even things out?

Forgiven by Gina Detwiler

Jared Lorn and Grace Fortune were looking forward to a quiet life together creating music and enjoying each other’s company. Their peaceful life has to be put on hold when an Entrepreneur named Darwin Speer discovers Jared’s secret. Darwin attempts to exploit this secret for his own gains. Jared and Grace flee across the world, only steps ahead of Darwin until he captures Jared and it is up to Grace to stop them both and undo the harm already done.
I don’t know if it is quite a young adult book, maybe for the older end of the spectrum? It got pretty complicated at spots and unless the teenager is religious, I think they can be lost with the areas where praying and scripture get front stage attention. It is a good adventure book, with a HEA, which can make up for some of the other issues.

Life Gets in the Way: Powering Through Adversity with Grit and Grace by Sally Kalksma

Sally Kalksma is a widow, fighting a rare blood cancer and working full-time to make ends meet. While all of that, she also raised 3 kids and tried to stay active as an athlete. Dealing with her grief in a healthy manner gets to be hard when her attention and energy is being drawn in so many directions. However, Sally overcomes these obstacles by finding competitive stair climbing and starts raising money for others in need. Even after beating cancer, Sally strives to help others, that’s why she wrote this book, so she can be an inspiration to many.
As a Mom of 4 kids, I have to say that this book was inspiring, even through the emotionally hard spots the author went through. This kind of book is needed even more today than before and it can show us just how far determination, courage and persistence can bring us. A very well written memoir that is worth reading.

Higher Is Calling: How to Overcome Challenges and Achieve Your Dreams by Maxwell Adekoje

This year has been challenging for even the most resilient of us. Between the pandemic, draughts, war and strife and economic downturns all over the world, the hits have kept on coming. The author of this book tells us his own life story and how he overcame all the hardships in his own life. Showing us how to survive a war-torn country through courage, perseverance and a little luck, we are given an uplifting message that tells us that no matter how hard we think it is, there is always a way to lift ourselves up and into a better life.
An inspirational tale, Mr. Adekoje write a great book. Very well written and great choice of words that make it relatable and engaging. Many people should be able to grasp some inspiration from this story and I think the Author deserves kudos for all he has lived through and overcome.

Kissing My Husband: An Instalove Possessive Age Gap Romance Novel by Novel Cat

Set in Nanzhao City, this story starts off with the wedding day of Ms. Gu to Mr. Lu. One little problem arises, Ms. Gu has run away, and her mother is left to figure out how to salvage face. See spies her younger daughter, Valen and immediately orders the wedding dress to be altered and for Valen to take her sisters place. Scales Lu, the Husband-to-be, is annoyed at the younger girl, but sees no issue with it, as he still gets the Gu wife he wanted. Scales is cold and indifferent towards Valen who acts like a little naïve girl of 12 or 13 instead of the 18 she proclaims to be. Many scenes were cringeworthy.
Billed as an insta-love romance, instead I found it to be cringeworthy on account of maybe the translation? It seems to me that this book was translated poorly, as many of the sentences make no sense and there is poor continuity in the tenses. It was very hard to get into the story as a result and I did not enjoy it.

Be the Light: "I Want to be the Light for Others, so They Can Be the Light for Others, and So On" by Jessica L Maricle Reiki Master

In this book, the author chronicles her journey of healing and acceptance. In July 2018, she had a bad car accident that resulted in many injuries, PTSD, depression, anxieties and pain. The author tells us her story, as there are countless others who as she puts it: “look normal, talk normal, walk normal and smile, but are dying inside”. From the accident, the initial days of recovery and then the realization that there will be no “easy” fix, we are given all the issues the author dealt with and how she stumbled through some areas and was better at dealing with others. Relief comes when she starts to hear about Reiki and researches it.
The whole book reads as if you are having a conversation with a friend and she is telling you about her experiences, it is very emotional at times, and I was able to connect with the author. My mother practices Reiki and is a Master so I am familiar. This is not a book detailing everything about the practice of Reiki, more it is a path of one woman who comes to Reiki and finds relief within it.

Most books about your money, revolve around one or maybe two principles. Some tell you to only invest in the stock market, others talk about savings, but rarely do you get a book that gives you the information you need to build a well secure plan for your money. This author, Mr. Smallwood gives us 7 basic principles that we need to consider and include in all of our financial planning. From maximizing tax deductions, increasing savings and retirement accounts to life insurance coverage and even wills (something that can be easily overlooked).
This was a very detailed and comprehensive book. It didn’t just tell you to do something, the author broke it down and explained how to do these steps and gave examples on how it can be adjusted as nothing is one size fits all. I found it very informative, easy to follow along, and well written.

As a Business owner, or even just a Recruiter, you need to know how to attract, train and most importantly retain the top talent for your field. In an increasingly competitive world, the right talent c an be hard to come by. The three authors take a look at one of the most successful operations in attracting, training and retaining top talent: The US Special Forces. For them, quality over Quantity has always held true and by looking at their recruitment practices, we can glean a lot of beneficial information for our own companies.
I thought this was an excellent book. I have served as a recruiter in small and large businesses and I agree that attracting the right talent for each position is very hard to do. The tips given on how to even approach this from the beginning were very enlightening and helpful. I am sure that I will be able to implement them in my next role.

The Ryder Code by Lawrence J. Epstein

This is the third installment in an action-packed series. Jack Ryder, a Detective in 1943 New York is approached by a Nun by name of Sister Grace. She has been organizing a network to help Jewish orphans and protect them from the horrors of the Nazi Reich. Sister Grace wants Jack to help her solve the murder of the benefactor’s daughter and how it all connects back to the Jewish Orphans. Jack, determined to help others, struggles with his own demons and therefor throws himself into his work. He fights against time as the Nazi’s are onto Sister Grace and her operations and want to eliminate her.
A fast-paced historical thriller, this book is in the same vein as the first two. Meaning it is very well written and researched and the characters seem to jump off the pages. I enjoyed reading this book and would certainly grab the next book in the series.

Bootstrapped Millionaire: Defying The Odds Of Business Hardcover by Tim T. Mercer

Tim Mercer gives us his success story. From an unlikely childhood into wealth and prosperity, Mr. Mercer built his wealth through out of the box thinking and an independent streak that pushed him to go even further, and not accept the status quo. In this book, he tells us his story and with it lays the groundwork for up and coming entrepreneurs who are looking for guidance from those who have come before.
Well written and inspirational for those looking to start a new business, or even those who are established but hitting some rough patches in the road. I was able to connect with Mr. Mercers’ story, I too served in the military and it helped pay my way through college and I now own a small business myself. I think that the story is important, almost as important as the guidance on how to build something and the mindset needed. People do better when they have a goal they are striving for.

Perilous Last-Minute Christmas Shopping by Annie De Muynck

On Christmas Eve in London, a young lady by the name of Chrissie is headed out to get some last-minute gifts she has forgotten. She is assaulted and abducted by a Santa and then subsequently held prisoner by a man calling himself Joe. Joe is a sick man; he keeps his family hostage as well and Chrissie must use all of her wits to escape Joe. After her escape she gives birth to a girl (Daughter to Joes son) and she strives to live her life in peace away from the horrors she witnessed before she could escape. Joe and his family never truly leave her, and the book takes us on a few leaps through the years.
What could have been a great thrilling book, was spoiled by poor editing and formatting. The writing was also a tad awkward and very stilted and formal. I found the book hard to get into which I thought was sad. I quite like thrillers and I was interested in this one. Hopefully the author can get a good editor take a look. It would be better after a revision.

The Alamogordo Connection by Don Johnston

The year is 2045, In New Mexico a meteorite strikes not too far from the Alamogordo area and life as we know it will be changed drastically. Many different people are brought together, Dustin, Derein and Carly to name a few and they along with numerous scientists begin the process of attempting to identify what happened, where it came from and what steps to take next. Carly and Derein become obsessed with ESP as a solution to decode a message and t out to track down Derein’s twin lost in the jungles of Panama. Will they find him and decode this message that was sent to earth? And will it even matter in the grand scheme things?
An entertaining and zany SciFi novel with interesting plot and set of characters. Some were plain odd and others very ambitious, however the flow of the story felt forced at times. I had to push through several areas of descriptions and dialogues that went on for pages which did not help the story. Overall a good read, although I may not reread it.

Teaser: A Corey Logan Thriller by Burt Weissbourd

Teaser, the second book in the thriller Corey Logan series, is in no way a disappointment for those familiar with the first book. It is as well written as the first and the characters are compelling, gritty, raw and at times horrific. The topic, child runaways, abductions, pedophilia, drugs and more will be hard for some people to read about, but the book is a good dive into this world that exists with ours day by day, side by side.
Corey and her partner in crime Abe are out on the streets of Seattle, looking into child and teen runaways. What they find with the help of their friend Billy is so much more sinister, kidnappings and even grooming is happening among the halls of Olympic academy and the fight is once again on to save these kids, earn their trust and ultimately help them back to a regular life.

Single Vampire - Mated Alpha by Tabatha Austin

Wesley, an ancient vampire, tired of his Sire’s rules and laws seeks a way to get away from Kaleb’s influence and with the assistance of some witches, takes over a recently deceased Werewolf Alpha’s body. What he did not account for was the ties that come with that boy, in this case two omegas that are bound to the alpha, Tyler and Ryan. They are shocked as they had thought they were finally free of an abusive alpha, only to suddenly have him back, even if someone new was inhabiting the body. And Kaleb will not let Wesley go so easily.
The potential is certainly here, however, the writing was a little stilted and some parts were hard to follow along as the plot seemed to jump around in spots. I’m glad to see a book that doesn’t just fetishize these types of characters, I just wished the writing/editing would have been better.

The Circle and The Cross: Book One of The Wanderers Series by Caiseal Mór

Many stories have been written about this time period, the conflicts between the missionaries and their efforts to bring the Irish pagans to heel and under the influence of mother church. This story has some of the elements of other book, rich worldbuilding, impressive and passionate Irish heathens and the zealous Christian missionaries. However, the main difference I saw in this book (the first in the series), was that the author made each character relatable. We hear from the missionary Bishop Palladius, who is sent to the Emerald Isle, as well as the Irish druids, local Chieftains and even one of his very own, who resist his efforts. All is not what it seems, with darkness (Demons) looming over the Irish lands and can anyone ever truly be the winner in such a scenario? Highly imaginative and dramatic, a superb book to read to occupy you during the winter holidays.

Acts of Hope: Part 2 of The Inquisition Trilogy by Martin Elsant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The book itself may be historical fiction, however, the author based it upon true events in that era. Utilizing accounts from Dona Garcia’s records as well as Father Antonio Vieira’s accounts amongst others, the author was able to build a vivid world in which we can experience the aftermath of the Inquisition upon the Jewish, Muslim and Catholic refugees seeking a better life even while being pursued by men of faith. Spanning from England, Portugal and finally to the new world, this grand fiction story will bring you back in time for true human grit, courage and suffering.
I really liked this book, the underlying theme is clear: No one, regardless of their station in life, is fully good or fully evil. There are nuances to us all and we can do great evil in the name of the greater good. The writing is engaging and gripping and the plight of the people in the story are compelling to keep you engrossed within the book until the very end.

When She Touches: A Discovery of Destiny and a Gift Like No Other by Sheryl Frazer

Genevieve is an empath by touch. She doesn’t fully understand her gift and finds her own way through life mainly through trial and error. Forced to feel the powerful emotions those around her, she wallows through depression, feels joy and struggles with jealousy and malice. Genevieve resolves to use her gift for good and starts helping comatose patients and missing people, trying to give comfort to the families and help find clues if possible. Slowly she starts to realize she is not simply experiencing emotions but can also “talk” to a person’s soul. Life shattering revelations in her own family threaten to derail her own life.
Second in the series, I liked Genevieve, and her progression throughout the novel. Her relationships are complex and her struggles with her gift are believable. I enjoyed reading this book, it was very much in a “feel good” vibe, with the main character powering through her own ills and helping person after person.
