This is the third in a series and while you could read it without the previous book, I strongly suggest reading the previous two books. I felt I had a better grasp on the story after rereading the first two and refreshing my memory of the overarching plot that runs throughout this story. Banzu returns and will have to face his greatest fears and enemies. He will face loss and betrayal and will need courage to follow his destiny. A satisfying conclusion to this trilogy of good vs evil and the author does a great job in closing all plots.
