The Secret of the Grand Hôtel du Lac by Kathryn Gauci
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
During the second World War, Guy Maxwell is the local resistance leader and he is embedded deep in the country of France, but his handlers have lost contact with him. Now, his wife Elizabeth is sent to the region to either locate him or find out what happened and then take control of the resistance in his stead. What she finds is betrayal and death on both sides and a race against time before the D-Day raids. Will she find her husband and the traitor in their midst? Will she be ab asset to them, or will the entire operation go down in flames before it has even begun?
A compelling and inspiring tale of those who fought behind the lines and risked their lives to end this war and help those in need. This is a fictional story, but there were real people that did these things. Some errors with the French spellings of words, but that is minor stuff.
