The Pebble Champion by Alan David Pritchard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Christopher loses his mom, and the event proves to be very traumatic for him. While the people surrounding him wish him well and try to help, he truly only feels some semblance of peace when he skips stones across the lake. This sets up a hauntingly beautiful story about loss, grief, acceptance, and newfound love.
While this book is very emotional, it is so very well written that you will not even notice the pages flying by until you reach the end. I think this will be one of those books that stick with me for a while.
